When Derrick begins a friendship with Amber, essentially a female version of himself, we learn of the traumatic past that led Derrick to bed as many women as possible through feelings of regret and hate, towards others as well as himself, much to the surprise of his best friends, B.D. and Rob.
Director Biography - Greg Kirkpatrick, Jr.
Born in Portland, OR in 1978, Greg Kirkpatrick, Jr. graduated from Oregon City High School in 1996 before joining the US Air Force as a Radio/Television Broadcaster for the American Forces Network.
After serving nearly five years overseas, Greg left the Air Force in 2002 to pursue college. He graduated in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in management from George Fox University, then embarked on a career in Human Resources.
After completing his MBA in 2014, Greg became an HR Director, serving a small electronics manufacturer in Salem, OR for seven years, before moving to South Dakota in 2021 with his wife and three children. In 2022, Greg began the process to finally realize his filmmaking dreams.
Director Statement
I am a 100% disabled military veteran, having deployed to Bosnia near the end of The Balkans War.
I served in the US Air Force from 1997-2002 in Korea, Japan, Germany, Italy, England, Hungary, Bosnia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Macedonia... and probably a few other places.
I wrote the first draft of Another Day in 1999, as a 20-year-old Airman stationed in Germany. 23 years later, I dreamt that I finally made the movie and received a standing ovation at a film festival. As soon as I woke up, I began rewriting the script. An early rewrite was a second-rounder at the Austin Film Festival's 2022 screenwriting competition.
Another Day was filmed in Dayton, Ohio during the summer and fall of 2023, 24 years after initially writing the first draft.
